The Trajan’s Markets tour will show you an archaeological site in Rome and a beautiful museum.

Visit the “Trajan’s Markets” and see the place where the Ancient Romans took care of legal and administrative business. ..

The “Trajan’s Markets” were of course also a shopping place, and the shops were located on the two outer streets. The Trajan’s Markets tour will also let you visit the “Museum of the Imperial Forums”, and there you will see “beautiful marble statues and columns” that will give you a glance into the ancient Roman Empire. The Trajan’s Markets tour will take you to the most famous spot in the “Imperial Forums”, a group of monumental squares and temples built between the first century BC and the second century AD. The “Trajan’s Markets” are in “Trajan’s Forum”, where you can also see “Trajan’s Column”, a triumphal column that commemorates the Emperor’s victory in “Dacia”, a historic area of the Balkans. The “Imperial Forums” were made by several Roman Emperors, including “Caesar”, “Augustus”, “Domitian”, “Vespasian”, and of course “Trajan”. This group of squares and temples was the center of the public life of Rome during the period of the Roman Empire.

The buildings of the “Trajan’s Markets” were built using the technique “Opus Latericium”, which consists of covering concrete buildings in red bricks. The bricks placed over the windows of some of the buildings here are cut to create beautiful geometric decorations. Many of the buildings have a vaulted ceiling, which was typical of the “tabernae”, the most common shops of Ancient Rome. This is the reason why at first the archaeologists believed this place to be a marketplace. Now we know that the buildings here mostly housed offices and archives, but the name has remained the same.

The Trajan’s Markets tour will also allow you to visit the “Museums of the Imperial Forums”, where you will see many of the archaeological findings that were recovered from this area. The museum is in the place where in ancient times free wheat would be distributed to the people of Rome, during an event that was called the “Cura Annonae”. From the museum you will also be able to reach a balcony from which you will admire a beautiful view. From the balcony you will be able to see “Trajan’s Markets”, “Trajan’s Forum” and the “Vittoriano”, a monument dedicated to the Italian king “Victor Emmanuel II”, who lived in the nineteenth century.

In the “Museum of the Imperial Forums” you will be able to see many fragments of statues and columns made of marble. These pieces are mostly torsos, heads, pieces of heads, arms, feet, and decorations that were placed on columns, but they still have a delicate beauty that will surely capture you. In the museum you will be able to see two marble “lion heads”, which maintain all their expressiveness even without a lower jaw. And we are sure that you will be transfixed by the eyes of “The Head of Jupiter”, looking out of a head fragment broken off right under the eyes.

The Trajan’s Markets tour is perfect if you want to learn about the daily lives of the people of Ancient Rome. “Trajan’s Markets” are on the “Quirinal Hill”, one of the historical seven hills on which Rome was founded. There is no better place than the “Imperial Forums” to learn about the daily life of the people of the Roman Empire.
