Trip back in the knights’ time
Our route starts from the heart of the city: Piazza del Campo, the spectacular shell-shaped square where every year takes place the famous Palio (horse racing). In this square with the characteristic red brick pavement you can admire the majestic Palazzo Pubblico with its interior decorated by allegories of Lorenzetti and where is located an interesting Museum.
The square also guests the imposing Torre del Mangia (tall 120 meters) from its top you can admire the whole city. Then we will continue to Piazza San Giovanni where there is a visit of the fourteenth-century Baptistery of San Giovanni.
A few steps from the Baptistery opens the beautiful Piazza Duomo where you can visit the Gothic Cathedral which houses works by Michelangelo, Bernini and Donatello. Next to the cathedral there are the interesting Museo dell’Opera Metropolitana and the Santa Maria della Scala, both worth a visit.
