After the estabilishment of plastic-free areas in some parts of the city, Luigi Brugnaro, mayor of Venice, is now launching a new campaign against urban decay. The plan is to provide pocket ashtrays in order to minimize the amount of cigarette ends on the streets, but the latest news are that in Piazza San Marco and in its whereabouts smoking will no more be allowed. Special smoking areas will be introduced in some specific parts of the city and in strategical points such as cafes. A choice inspired by the major’s experience in Tokyo, providing a more healthy and ecological choice for the entire city. A more responsible way for everyone to enjoy Venice, starting from mayor Brugnaro, himself a smoker.
