Romeanditaly group provide tours to guide you through old streets and medieval quarters of this Italian city. Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio bridge, Pitti Palace, Accademia gallery with the famous David of Michelangelo or Uffizi Gallery
Lots of great artists, as Petrarca, Boccaccio, Brunelleschi, Michelangelo, Giotto, Cimabue, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Lorenzo de’ Medici, Machiavelli, Galileo Galilei and Dante Alighieri, have contributed to the glory of this magical Italian city.
With our tours of Florence, you will be able to visit the breath-taking Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral and its Brunelleschi’s Dome; the most ancient building of Florence, Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistry. Ponte Vecchio Bridge, one icon of Florence, famous all around the world for the goldsmith’s and craftsmen’s workshops (bottega), always crowed of tourists who watch and buy the handmade gold jewels. Signoria Square, the geographical center of Florence, where you can see Palazzo Vecchio, today seat of the municipality and in the XII century headquarter of the political power of Florence, so big that it is impossible to photograph entirely.
Tour of Uffizi is the must for all art lovers, an incredible museum, where you can see artworks of the most important Italian artists, as Cimabue, Duccio di Buoninsegna, Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo, Signorelli, Perugino, Durer and Caravaggio.
Next, the Highlights of Florence Tour will take you to “Piazza della Repubblica”, considered the very centre of the city since Roman era and mainly known today for being a theatre for street artists and for the colorful carousel. On one of its sides, there is the famous “Giubbe Rosse Café” which has been a meeting place of famous artists and writers and, if you’re interested in buying some rock-themed souvenirs, in the west side of the square there is the “Hard Rock Café”.
Afterwards, our guide will lead you to visit the “Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore” – better known as the “Duomo” -, the “Baptistery of St John” and “Giotto’s Bell Tower”. These buildings are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the dome of the cathedral, designed by “Filippo Brunelleschi”, is still the largest brick dome ever built.
The Duomo is a vast Gothic structure and it took two centuries to be finished but it was consecrated when even the façade was not completed. Aside from the complex architecture, inside you can see beautiful frescos such as the “Last Judgment” designed by Giorgio Vasari and a peculiar clock above the entrance setted with the “ora italica” where the day end at sunset.
