Accessible tour of Lucca
As Lucca’s soil is completely flat, the walking tour is suitable for people of all ages, including wheelchair users
This is a half-day accessible tour and it includes an introduction about the city’s history, past and present economy. Afterwards, you will visit the city wall pictured above, San Paolino Street, Puccini’s birthplace from outside, the marvelous church of San Michele and its wedding-cake façade, the majestic Piazza Napoleone and, nearby, Piazza del Giglio.
The tour for wheelchair users continues towards the Romanesque cathedral, which houses the famous Volto Santo: a wooden crucifix supposedly made the very night in which Jesus died.
After that, you will visit the busy Via Fillungo: the most elegant shopping Street in town, near stunning medieval buildings and towers, including Torre Guinigi.
This accessible tour ends at Piazza Anfiteatro, also called the miniature Coliseum, which today is sorrounded by houses. Nowadays, it is one the most picturesque squares in Tuscany.
On request, with an extra cost, it is possible to have an accessible transfer with vehicle equipped with lift.
