Mormon Temple – Rome
The first Mormon Temple in Italy
- Historical interest 100%
- Fun 80%
- Activity Level 100%
After 11 years of waiting, indeed the constructors communicated this project in 2008, on January 14 of the year 2019, the 162nd Mormon temple in the world and the 12th in Europe was inaugurated in Rome
It’s the first temple built by this Christian religious confession in Italy. It is located in the northeastern area of Rome near the “Grande Raccordo Anulare”....
Joseph Smith officially established the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1830. In addition to the Bible, among the Holy Scriptures, there is the Book of Mormon. The temples of this religious denomination are distinguished from churches, where members gather for Sunday worship. Structures such as that of the capital are considered the “House of the Lord” where weddings, baptisms, and other ceremonies are celebrated.
The Temple of Rome has a width of 4 thousand square meters and is structured on three floors. It is also part of a religious and cultural center that covers six hectares and includes: a multipurpose palace, a Visitor Center, a Family History Library and a guesthouse.
Even though the intern of the building is not visitable by tourists but only for religious purposes, what we can offer you is a very interesting guided tour around this mystical place. You would observe the magnificence of the statue of the Angel Moroni who is a symbol of the cult, you will explore the beautiful gardens and the chapel and would have the chance to see the miniatures of the interior of the building.
