This is a place rich in history. The ancient Temple formerly was named after the Roman tutelary deity of the city, Jupiter Anxur. Later, some objects and engravings, which belonged to Venus, were discovered. Furthermore, a part of the sanctuary, more specifically the little temple, had been used as a Benedictine Convent in the Middle Ages. The place exhibits evidence of that time: there is a church with nice and well-kept frescoes, a tower and old walls, earmarked for mainly military purposes!
