Into “garden house”, Pompeian domus, a wooden and metal box with 140 feminine objects was found: gems, necklaces, mirrors but in particular many amulets.
These precious objects may not have belonged to the landlady. The absence of gold, which could not be missing in the jewelry box of a young woman, the positioning of the chest in a service environment and finally the presence of particular objects, not entirely precious, seem to tell another story: a collection of small objects perhaps related to magic, to protect themselves from bad luck.
For the moment, these are hypotheses. Studies on the Garden House are in fact still in its infancy. Meanwhile, go exploring this beautiful archaeological site with Rome and Italy: contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
