We will start our visit from “Piazza del Popolo” where we can visit the church of Santa Maria del Popolo, the site where the body of the first dead cardinal with the angram tattooed on his chest was found.
We will then reach the Pantheon, one of the oldest and best-preserved monuments of the city, where Michelangelo studied the spherical dome and stated that it was “built by a hand of an angel and not by human hand”. It is the site where by mistake was defined by the protagonists of the novel, the first Clue, the Tomb of Raphael.
We continue the tour towards Piazza Navona, the place where the corpse of another cardinal is found. Here we can admire the fountain of the four rivers, one of the works of the master of the Roman Baroque Gian Lorenzo Bernini… we are in one of the most famous squares of Rome.
The penultimate stage of our tour, is the church of Santa Maria della Vittoria, place where the third cardinal is found dead and where we can admire the statue recognized without a doubt the “masterpiece” of Gian Lorenzo Bernini “The Ecstasy of Santa Teresa” that is placed in a side chapel of the Church.
We will conclude our itinerary at Piazza San Pietro with the visit of the square and we will see from outside the Basilica. Then we arrive until the entrance of a Castel Sant’Angelo (from outside), final destination of the novel, “The Sanctuary of the Illuminati”.
Beginning our tour with the visit to St. Maria del Popolo church, you should have seen the famous works of the great Caravaggio. If you want to discover other masterpieces of the immense artist, you can find our Caravaggio tour in the “Private Tours” section.
