Come to Rome and retrace the steps of “Robert Langdon” with the Angels and Demons tour

Follow Robert Langdon and Vittoria Vetra’s steps in this Rome tour inspired by the best-selling thriller “Angels and Demons”. The Angels and Demons tour will take you to the places where the most important events of the novel took place in Rome. You will visit beautiful churches, the great “Vatican City”, and see elegant marble statues. The Angels and Demons tour is perfect for the fans of both the novel and the movie....

The Angels and Demons tour begins in the “Basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo”, where the Illuminati murder the first cardinal. Here you will see the beautiful “Cappella Chigi”, designed by “Gian Lorenzo Bernini” and decorated by the painter “Raphael”, two of the greatest Italian artists of all time.

After that you will visit the “Pantheon”, where Langdon believed the first murder would take place. The “Pantheon” was built in the first century AD, and it is one of the most famous monuments in Rome. The circular opening in the ceiling is its most famous characteristic, and according to an ancient legend, it is an eye through which the gods of the past would look down at the people inside.

The Angels and Demons tour will continue towards “Piazza Navona”, where the fourth murder takes place. Here you will be able to see the fountain “Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi”, by “Bernini”. This fountain features the personifications of four rivers, the Nile, the Danube, the Ganges, and the Río de la Plata. There are also several animals in the fountain, all sculpted in marbles like the four main statues. This masterpiece of Bernini seems to be the end of the line for Langdon, but the adventure continues…

Before reaching the climax of the story, we will lead you to the church of “Santa Maria della Vittoria”, where you will be able to admire the “Ecstasy of Saint Teresa”. This marble statue shows the saint in a moment of pure bliss, while an angel points an arrow to her chest. This masterpiece by “Gian Lorenzo Bernini” is full of fiery, religious passion, and it marks the place for the murder of the third cardinal, who was fittingly burned alive.

Finally, the Angels and Demons tour reaches its end in “Saint Peter’s Square”, where Langdon finally discovers who’s really behind the threat to the Vatican. The “colonnade” you can see here is also a work of Bernini. The wide colonnade was designed to give the impression of a maternal hug, embracing the faithful in the Catholic Church. Here you will see the colonnade and the outside of “Saint Peter’s Basilica”. After that, the Angels and Demons tour will take you to the entrance of “Castel Sant’Angelo”, the sanctuary of the Illuminati. “Castel Sant’Angelo” has many cells that were used to hold many famous prisoners throughout the years. Perhaps the most famous of these was “Giordano Bruno”, who was tried for heresy by the “Roman inquisition”. He was found guilty of denying many Catholic doctrines, including the fact that the earth is at the center of the universe. He was burned at the stake in “Campo de’Fiori” in Rome in 1600. This tour only includes a visit to the outside of “Castel Sant’Angelo”.

The Angels and Demons tour will show you the most important places of the best-selling novel Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, adapted in the 2009 film by Ron Howard with Tom Hanks.
