The most famous historical attractions is obviously the Valley of the Temples, just outside Agrigento and one of the most important examples of Greek art and architecture.

This splendid archaeological park consists of eight temples built between the 510 BC and 430 BC: the Temple of Hera, the Temple of Concordia, the Temple of Heracles, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Temple of Castor and Pollux, the Temple of Hephaestos, the Temple of Demeter, and the Temple of Asclepius (the God of Medicine). Moreover, the Valley houses the famous “Tomb of Theron”, a huge tuff monument of pyramidal shape, built to commemorate Romans’ death in the Second Punic War.
The area became part of the UNESCO Heritage in 1997.
