On Friday the 28th July from 6.30pm, an official ceremony will inaugurate the re opening of The Maritim Theater located in the beautiful and luxurious Villa of the Emperor Adriano in Tivoli, Rome.
The Villa, and the teather itself were considered by the Emperor as a place to rest body and mind, relax and enjoy the beautiful sorrounding nature.
The renovation work that tooks 3 years to give a new birth to this magic place, has been targeted to guarantee the maintanance of the original allure and atmosphere of this area, and to celebrate the elegant design of the Villa.
Now, after three years, the Maritim Teather open its doors again to tourists to a biannual program created to celebrate the anniversary of Emperor Adriano’s ascend to throne.
The Maritime Theater, whose name comes from its shape and decoration inspired by marine motifs, consists of two concentric elements: a porch on Ionic columns (partially raised) and a round island, separated by an annular canal on which bridges were thrown furnishings. On the island there was a real miniature domus, with rooms articulated around a peristyle, the emperor’s retreat place. To the south of the Maritime Theater are the ruins of a thermal building.
If you are travelling to Rome, don’t miss it!
